Setting Goals for 2025

Writing

Lord of Vipers Book One is on pace for a 2025 Q3 release. Writing has taken longer than anticipated as I rework it to handle pacing concerns in the initial draft.

After publishing CUTT, the feedback, whether positive or negative, centered around pacing and plot expectations. That’s really what I want to deliver on in all books moving forward. So I’m letting Lord of Vipers bake in the oven a little while longer.

I’ve been slow about opening pre-orders as I haven’t finished the preliminary artwork. Artwork has been a bottleneck lately, so I’m actually

Announcing an Announcement for CUTT

I am going to write a sequel for Coordinated Universal Time Travel, but I’m keeping the details pretty quiet until Lord of Vipers is close to publication. For readers of this blog, you’ll see a few mentions here and there, but the real kick-off will be a pre-order page, hopefully this summer. The book is likely to be a 2026 release.

Music

My target is to have an EP done by December. Judge the pace by whether or not you see one song per quarter.

The first single of the year, As We Strut, has been released. I’m still hoping to complete another three songs this year. The candidates are all past the concept stage, but finishing songs tends to be a lumpy process. There’s a big hill of slow progress, then a mad rush to completion on the other side.

If it’s hard to climb that hill, expect an EP this year. If I reach the summit faster than expected, then I might do a full album.

Website

Moving the Website to Astro instead of Wordpress was a massive success right out the gate. I’m spending less money on hosting/backups and less time managing wordpress. It’s given me an excuse to learn javascript and frontends1, which has been very satisfying.

It’s also opened many avenues for further improvements. I’ve added a discography for all of my music releases.

A similar bibliography page is in progress. As I publish more work, I’ll have both dedicated pages for series and books.

The beauty of both of these concepts is that they’ll automatically update and stay in sync as I publish more work. At some point in the future, I’ll consider doing a technical breakdown of my system. Astro really makes great things possible.

Artwork

It’s odd to give this topic it’s own section, as my art is a sideshow, not a primary attraction. I enjoy making book covers and album art, but I’m not out to launch a DeviantArt (🤔Though maybe I should do Instagram…).

As We Strut was delayed for months over album art and it’s made me realize I need to spend more time practicing art. I want to make more drawings all the time so I can have more concepts ready to make into album art and book covers. I want to expand my skills so I can be more ambitious in my designs.

But time doesn’t truly allow that investment and priorities outright forbid it.

So, I’ve decided to just do at least one sketch or design to be the hero for every Blog Post. Even a 5-minute doodle, will suffice. This should give me the barest minimum of practice and keep me from going completely stale. Expect to see some concept art for far off books and albums.

Videos

I have a spate of half-finished videos and voiceovers for both the Diur Mulapu and Artificial Philosophy YouTube channels. I also want to start a channel on Rumble and will post videos on X too at some point.

My bottleneck is finishing the editing and voiceovers. Editing is outsourceable, but I still believe I can refine my process enough to get videos completed and published much quicker than I currently do. Once that breaks, I expect to have somewhat consistent publication schedule.

Outro

2025 looks to be an exciting year. The big goals are still on-target and I’ve already cleared many milestones.
